How important is proper mounting for forklift computers?
July 1, 2014
Forklifts and other industrial vehicles are unforgiving platforms for computers, yet every day we mount expensive DLoG computers to fork truck with no suspension at all. Its lucky then that we use RAM mounting systems to provide the best possible fixing for our customers terminals and computers. RAM mounts not only provide a cushioned, shock adsorbing fix for our computers, but allow the finest degree of adjustment so that the DLoG terminal is perfectly positioned for the operator to use without being in the way.
RAM mounts and brackets are also very very strong and can stand up to the occasional accidental smack that can sometimes happen in even the best warehouse or factory. A RAM arm and ball is also designed to move and turn under the higher impacts, to allow the computer to be pushed out of harms way. The incredible ball mounting and adjustable clamps both hold the device firmly, but allow it to move under the impact, while the rubberised balls help adsorb the shock. Then its a simple matter to undo the giant adjusting lever and your truck is back in action. Mind you it also helps that DLoG computers can also stand up to the most demanding environments and withstand up to 30 G. This level of shock would kill you or I, but careful computer design and a very strong out case allows the DLoG to survive.
A very large range of ball, arms and clamps are available from RAM so that even the most complex mounting job can be accomplished and if required customised brackets can be made to interface with the RAM balls to produce a unique mounting solution, as was required when Craig and Nigel had to design a mounting for DLoG, Zebra Printer and Datalogic barcode scanner, for BMW Oxford, all held by a single RAM short arm and 2 inch balls. Having off the shelf components which can be combined with specially engineered brackets is a winning combination.
